New Mexico forward Charlie Thomas, who scored 51 points in victories over Brigham Young and Utah last week, was named Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

Thomas, a 6-feet-7, 220-pound senior from Germantown, Md., connected on 22 of 28 field goals and seven of 10 free-throw attempts to help the Lobos defeat Brigham Young on Thursday, 88-84, and Utah on Saturday, 85-66.
