Ski joring and snowboarding will be major attractions in downtown Ogden at the third annual Winter Carnival Jan. 20-22.

The carnival, saluting the town's sister city of Hof, West Germany, will also feature a man-made ski hill on 25th Street, a 200-foot long half-pipe for snowboarding exhibitions, a 10-K Volkswalk, torchlight parade, folk dancing, ice skating and cross-country skiing.Ski joring, a race combining rodeo with skiing, involves a horse-pulled skier who takes a series of jumps.

During the carnival, Union Station will be filled with Bavarian music and dance, featuring the German musical group "Die Gostrataler," from Hof, and Kerry Christensen, an alpine yodeler from Disneyland's EPCOT Center.
