South Davis County residents who check out books from the county's library system Bookmobile will be fined if they keep books longer than 28 days.
The new policy, which went into effect Jan. 1, requires that anyone keeping a book longer than 28 days will be fined 25 cents a book. Each day thereafter, the fine will increase by 5 cents until it reaches a maximum of $2 a book. If the book is lost, the borrower must pay the price of the book as well as the $2 service fee.Books may be returned to branches of the Davis County Library. The fine policy applies only to books checked out from the bookmobile after Jan. 1. Any books borrowed before then must be returned before March 31, or an overdue fine of $2 per book will be assessed.
