Nevada's 24 game wardens feel outnumbered and are sometimes outgunned as they each patrol an area larger than the state of Connecticut in efforts to nab thousands of poachers roaming the state.

"Our best estimates show that we're losing about as many deer to poachers as we are to legal hunters, and last year, 18,000 to 20,000 deer were legally taken," said Tom Atkinson, a game warden in the law enforcement division of the state Wildlife Department."When you're losing that many deer to illegal harvesting, the figures kind of scare you. We definitely have a big problem with poaching in Nevada."
