Morgan J. Evans has been elected vice president and chief financial officer of First Security Corp., according to Spencer F. Eccles, chairman and chief executive officer.
Evans, formerly president and chief executive officer of First Security Service Co., succeeds Elmer D. Tucker, who took early retirement after 22 years with the company.Eccles said Evans was instrumental in creating First Security DataCorp., accelerating the company's move into computer automation, pioneering strategic planning efforts and developing the corporate information management system.
A native of Lehi, Evans was an engineer for Hercules Inc. from 1959 to 1963 and then joined First Security as a computer programmer. He later was a systems analyst and in 1972 was elected vice president and manager of First Security's computer center.
Evans has a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Brigham Young University and has taken some post-graduate courses. He also graduated from the American Bankers Association Business of Banking School.
