Off-duty firefighter Chris Pendleton peers into an abandoned four-wheel drive that lost control and flipped on its side on snow-packed I-80 on the east side of Parleys Summit Friday morning. The morning storm was a swift and potent one, blanketing lower elevations of the Salt Lake Valley with between 3 and 6 inches of snow and dumping up to 8 inches along the benches. Although the storm has passed, cold, unstable air will persist over the area through the weekend, bringing with it a 30 percent chance of more snow showers and high temperatures in the mid-20s. Lows will be near 10 degrees.
