A woman accused of beating her 10-year-old son with a metal pipe to get money for cocaine was arraigned Friday on assault, theft and child endangerment charges, police said.

Police said Joanne Oliphant, 29, beat her son, Jermaine, until he gave her $11 he earned washing cars. She then left him in their home while she went out searching for a drug dealer, police said.Oliphant was arraigned on charges of aggravated and simple assault, terroristic threats, endangering the welfare of a child, robbery, receiving stolen property, recklessly endangerment and weapons offenses, police said.
