To the editor:

Thank you for your recent editorial concerning the Soviet inspectors and their inability to visit private homes ("The Russians aren't coming," Dec. 24).Women Concerned About Nuclear War extended invitations to the Soviet inspectors during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays to have a family dinner in the home of Edwin and Gloria Firmage. This did not take place due to On-Site Inspection Agency (OSIA) policy.

We will continue to request a change in this policy via a dialogue with Brig. Gen. Roland LaJoie, director of the OSIA in Washington, D.C. We have again extended an invitation to the Soviets to visit in the home of the Firmages during the Easter weekend.

In the interim, we have formed a small task force which will pursue visits with Sen. Orrin Hatch, Sen. Jake Garn, Rep. Wayne Owens, Gov. Norman Bangerter, and Salt Lake City Mayor Palmer DePaulis. We would like to know who decided this policy for people in Utah and if Utah people were represented in this decision.
