Police are continuing to search for leads in a weekend department store robbery in which a gunman forced employees to hand over an undetermined amount of cash.

The robber, described as a white male in his mid-20s, pulled a .22-caliber handgun on an employee of the Fred Meyer store, 340 E. 13th South, shortly after the 10 p.m. closing Saturday.The man forced the employee to the front of the store where other employees were counting cash register receipts, said Gerald Nielsen, Orem Public Safety Department information officer. Five employees and the store manager were ordered to empty money from the registers into a duffle bag the robber had taken from the store shelves.

The robber was described as 6 feet tall, 200 pounds, brown hair, brown eyes, wearing a red and white baseball cap, a white thermal shirt, khaki pants and white tennis shoes.
