Utah federal Judge Thomas Greene sentenced a Mexican national on Tuesday to four months in jail on her guilty plea to distributing one gram of heroin to a confidential government informant.

Greene initially ordered Francesca Hernandez, who had been living in Salt Lake County, to serve two years in prison. But he then suspended all but four months, to be served at a "jail-type facility."He also ordered her to complete 50 hours of community service, in lieu of any fines, if she is allowed to remain in the United States.

In exchange for Hernandez's guilty plea, prosecutors dismissed a second drug distribution count.

"I'd like to be forgiven for what I've done," Hernandez said, speaking through an interpreter. "I swear to you, I will never do it again."
