Ted W. Rich, Roy, a Soil Conservation Service employee who works in the agency's Layton office, has been given the Grahm S. Quate award by the Utah Association of Conservation Districts for his outstanding service to Utah's farmers and ranchers.

The award is named for Utah's first Soil Conservation Service state conservationist and is presented by the Utah association to one outstanding field employee each year.

Agency officials said Rich has provided technical assistance to hundreds of farmers and ranchers in Davis, Salt Lake, Tooele, Weber and Morgan counties during his 31-year career.
