A Salt Lake man remained in critical but stable condition Wednesday after being injured in a two-car accident Monday night.

Leland Matthews, 50, was a back seat passenger in a car driven by his daughter that was hit head-on Wasatch Boulevard by a car that crossed the center line to avoid hitting a car that had slowed in front of it at about 5:40 p.m.Matthews suffered severe facial injuries and a fractured femur and was listed in critical condition after being taken to University Hospital.

Six people were injured in the accident, including Matthews' wife, Karen, 51, and daughter Lori Matthews, 29, and Lori's 2-year-old daughter Morgan.

The 17-year-old driver of the other car, Rebecca Mason of Salt Lake, and Megan Matthews, 19, another daughter of Leland and Karen Matthews, were treated at Cottonwood Hospital and released.
