An "Arab-looking" gunman fired three bullets into a Saudi Arabian diplomat on a downtown Bangkok street Wednesday, killing him instantly, police said.

"A witness said a single gunman about 30 years old followed the victim and shot him at close range," said Deputy Police Commissioner Maj. Gen. Taweesak Sukolchaya.Taweesak said the gunman fired eight shots at Saleh Abdullah Malik, 35, a third secretary of the Saudi Arabian embassy in Bangkok. Three of the bullets struck Malik in the head, killing him instantly, he said.
