Cross country skiers can traverse trails maintained by the Utah Division of Parks and Recreation in three state parks for a cost ranging from free to $3 per person.

At Wasatch Mountain State Park in Midway, a 10-kilometer cross country ski track winds along the golf course. The mostly flat trail is groomed daily, weather permitting, and can be skied at a cost of $3 per person.Ski rentals and beginning lessons are available at the park through the Homestead Resort. Pioneer Trail State Park has a groomed ski trail and an oval track that are designed primarily for novice and intermediate cross country skiers. There is no charge for skiing in the park.

The park is open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily, except for state holidays, including Human Rights Day Jan. 18 and Presidents Day Feb. 15. For more information, call 533-5882.

Rockport State Park has a 4-mile cross country ski trail up Cotton Canyon and a 2-mile loop through the Juniper and Cedar Point campgrounds. The cost of using the park during the day is $3 per vehicle.
