A Salt Lake man was being investigated Tuesday in connection with nearly two dozen armed robberies in Salt Lake City during the last two months.
The man, 28, and two other men were booked into the Salt Lake County Jail early Tuesday following holdups of two businesses Monday night. The men were arrested about 45 minutes after a robbery at La Parisien restaurant. According to police, a man armed with a gun entered the restaurant, 417 S. Third East, about 11 p.m., stole money from the cashier and then fled in a small white pickup truck.
That truck was spotted by Officer Mac Humphries near Fifth South and Seventh East.
Police arrested three men and recovered guns, money and clothing, such as masks, believed used in a number of robberies, said Sgt. Bill Abbott.
Two hours earlier, about 9:55 p.m., a man with a gun entered Gepetto's Restaurant, 230 S. 13th East, and asked to use the restroom. After a few minutes, the man returned to the cashier, pulled out a dark-colored automatic handgun and demanded money. He then grabbed the cash tray full of money and fled.
Abbot said one of the three men arrested Monday night is believed to have been involved in at least 21 robberies since Nov. 14, including the robbery last Friday of the DoDo restaurant.
