Cross country skiers can traverse trails maintained by the Utah Division of Parks and Recreation in three state parks for a cost ranging from free to $3 per person.

At Wasatch Mountain State Park in Midway, a 10-kilometer cross-country ski track winds along the golf course. The mostly flat trail is groomed daily, weather permitting, and can be skied at a cost of $3 per person.Ski rentals and beginning lessons are available at the park through the Homestead Resort. Pioneer Trail State Park has a groomed ski trail and an oval track that are designed primarily for novice and intermediate cross-country skiers. There is no charge for skiing in the park.

The park is open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily, except for state holidays, including Human Rights Day Jan. 18 and Presidents Day Feb. 15. For more information, call 533-5882.

Rockport State Park has a four-mile cross country ski trail up Cotton Canyon and a two-mile loop through the Juniper and Cedar Point campgrounds. The cost of using the park during the day is $3 per vehicle.
