A new plastic products plant that has opened in Gorlovka, Ukraine, is a 50-50 joint venture between Huntsman Chemical Corp. and Styrol Production LLC, Ukraine's major petrochemical firm.

A spokesman for the Salt Lake-based Huntsman firm said the facility will produce 500 million plastic products annually, including egg cartons, meat trays, sandwich and food containers, plates, bowls and drinking cups.The spokesman said Huntsman has installed equipment in the plant that will allow it to continually grow to supply other nations in the Commonwealth of Independent States and other neighboring nations.

Styrol is one of the two largest chemical companies in the former Soviet Union.
