Actors David Soul and Kent McCord are working on a new television series, "UNSUB," as a mid-season replacement on NBC.

"UNSUB," an acronym for "unknown subject," focuses on a special unit within the Justice Department that investigates serial crime. Soul and McCord portray agents in the unit who are routinely called upon to assist local police in such cases.An NBC spokeswoman said no time slot has set for the new series, which is being produced by Stephen J. Cannell Productions.

Soul appeared in the weekly television police drama "Starsky and Hutch" through 1980 and in the short-lived series based on the movie "Casablanca." McCord last appeared on series television in "Adam-12."
