For those of you who grumbled about paying a fee while visiting Kennecott Utah Copper's Bingham Canyon mine, take heart.

BP Minerals America, parent company of KUC and mine owner, will donate the $14,000 in visitor fees collected since Aug. 15 to local non-profit organizations such as the Salt Lake Community Shelter and Resource Center, St. Vincent De Paul food program and the Association for Retarded Citizens.Company officials said the mine visitors center is open to the public from April to October and they anticipate an even larger amount of revenue in 1989. They are excited about creating a new funding source to help meet community social needs.
