The Greater Salt Lake Area YMCA building turns 25 on Thursday and, to celebrate, the Y will host a birthday party from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 737 E. 200 South.

The area Young Men's Christian Association itself is actually 95 years old, having been incorporated when Utah was still a territory. Programs were run from a building at the corner of 100 South and State streets until 1914, when the YMCA Stickers Club and Foundation continued the Association as a service club until its reactivation in 1946.Today, the YMCA provides programs for men and women of all ages, serving over 13,000 young people and adults in the greater Salt Lake area each year. It is the only YMCA in Utah.
