Several churches have announced special programs or services for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. They include:

-The Cathedral Church of St. Mark, 231 E. First South - New Year's Eve All Bach Organ Recital at 8 p.m., followed by celebration of the Holy Eucharist. The public is invited, particularly to the annual recital.-Central Christian Church, 370 S. Third East - New Year's Day worship at 11 a.m. with retired Methodist minister Rev. Jim Sloan as guest speaker.

-Christ Lutheran Church, 240 E. 56th South - New Year's Eve service with Holy Communion at 7:30 p.m.; New Year's Day service, 10 a.m.

-Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 715 W. Third North - New Year's Eve Mass at 6 p.m.; New Year's Day Masses at 8:30 a.m. (English), 10:30 a.m. (Spanish) and 12:15 p.m. (English).

-Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1955 E. Stratford Ave. - New Year's Eve service at 7 p.m.

-Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 3083 S. 8950 West - New Year's Day, Holy Day Octave of Christmas, Mary Mother of God, 9 and 11 a.m.

-St. John's Lutheran Church, 1030 S. Fifth East - New Year's Eve Watchnite at 7:30 p.m.

-St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church, 7405 S. Redwood Road - New Year's Eve mass at 6 p.m.; New Year's Day Mass at 8 and 10 a.m.

-St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 2040 W. 35th South - New Year's Day worship service at 10:30 a.m. (no Sunday School).

-St. Olaf's Catholic Church, 313 E. 17th South, Bountiful - New Year's Eve Mass at 5:30 p.m.; New Year's Day Mass at 8:30 and 11:15 a.m.

-St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 261 S. Ninth East - Dec. 31 Holy Eucharist Rite II at 5 p.m.; Jan. 1, Holy Eucharist Rite I at 8 a.m., church school at 9:45 a.m. and Holy Eucharist, Rite I & Sermon at 10 a.m.
