A man carrying a .45-caliber automatic pistol robbed a Smith's Food King at 40th South and Wasatch Boulevard at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday.

Two additional armed robberies were reported in Salt Lake during the day Monday - one at a restaurant and one at a convenience store.The man who robbed the grocery store took an undetermined amount of cash and fled on foot. He was described as a white male, 6 feet tall and in his 20s.

The first of the Monday robberies occurred at 10:10 a.m. at Marie Callender's, 1313 S. Foothill Drive. Salt Lake Police Lt. Dave Harkness said a man ordered a pie from the restaurant and then said he had to leave to get his checkbook. He returned 10 minutes later with a .38-caliber black revolver and ordered the cashier to open the till.

The man took about $250 and then fled, Harkness said. "He left his pie behind, apparently."

Police are looking for a 30-year-old white male who is about 6 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds. He was wearing a blue jacket with Levis and a baseball hat.

A Rainbo convenience store, 874 E. 13th South, was robbed about 1:30 p.m. A man took $200 and fled on foot westbound on 13th South.
