One of the least-liked holiday traditions is dutifully carried out Tuesday in the Capitol rotunda by workers responsible for taking down the 42-foot blue spruce that served as the state's Christmas tree. As the more than 4,000 tiny lights and dozens of hand-crafted ornaments were removed, a chain saw was used to trim off branches so the tree could be hauled out in pieces. Much of the tree, which was donated, will likely end up in the fireplaces of state employees.
