Spanish painter Salvador Dali returned home from the hospital on Sunday after treatment for internal bleeding, his doctors said.

Dali, 84, was taken to the hospital in his home town of Figueras on Thursday after vomiting blood."Dali is better and in good spirits," Figueras Mayor Mariano Lorca told reporters.

The surrealist artist came close to death last month. He spent two weeks in intensive care suffering from heart and breathing trouble.

He lives in virtual seclusion in the Dali museum at Figueras, north of Barcelona.
