Rodney Roberts, Beaver, has been named one of the top 12 4-Hers in the United States for his leadership in alcohol and drug awareness programs.

Another Utah member, Annalyn Roberts, Wales, Sanpete County, won a national scholarship for her 4-H program. The two received the awards at the recent National 4-H Congress in Chicago.Rodney Roberts received a silver tray commissioned by President Reagan and $2,500 in scholarships from the Reader's Digest Foundation and the Firestone Trust Fund.

He was honored for a Utah 4-H ambassador project on drug and alcohol awareness. "This was a three-month project during which I gave 14 presentations in schools and around the community. I also became the junior coordinator of the `Just Say No' club in Beaver County," Roberts said.

As one of the 12 Presidential winners he will meet with the other winners in Washington, D.C., in April to consult on problems facing U.S. youth.

Annalyn Roberts was one of six national $1,500 scholarship winners in the breads competition. The Snow College freshman said like most youngsters she started out helping her mother make bread and working with a small piece of dough of her own.

She progressed from these small beginnings to recently teaching classes on making international breads and baking 1,000 rolls for a Boy Scout banquet.
