A motorist led law enforcement officers on a chase early Sunday through four counties. The pursuit reached speeds of up to 100 miles per hour and lasted morethan an hour before a suspect was apprehended in Heber City, according to Laytonpolice officials.
The chase started about 4:30 a.m. Sunday in Davis County, winding through Layton and Kaysville and then onto U.S. 89 and I-84 up Weber Canyon, police said. The driver left the interstate on U.S. 40 and was caught shortly before 6 a.m. byUtah Highway Patrol troopers in Heber City.There were no injuries in the chase, police said, but one Layton vehicle was damaged.
Bruce I. Gegon, 24, 1369 Reid Ave., Layton, was booked into the Davis County Jail Sunday for investigation of evading a police officer and destruction of a police vehicle.
