John Elway of the Denver Broncos has agreed to settle a $50,000 lawsuit over an attack by his dog out of court.

According to the suit, David Russell went to Elway's home on May 24, 1987, after he found some documents belonging to Elway in a local park. Russell said the dog attacked him just as he got out of his car at the curb of Elway's home. However, a neighbor said the attack occurred when Russell stepped into the driveway.Arapahoe County animal control officers were called to the scene but refused to issue a citation after they were unable to entice the dog off the property.
