An 11-year-old boy pulled a gun Friday on one of two playmates who threatened to tell his parents he was peeking at Christmas gifts, then was shot to death in a struggle over the weapon, police said.

Jeremy Curtis Woods, a seventh-grader, died at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach Friday, said Bonnie Wehrberger, a Port Orange police spokeswoman.Wehrberger said two brothers from the neighborhood were playing at Jeremy's home Friday afternoon. Jeremy was looking at his gifts when one of the boys said he would tell the boy's parents, Wehrberger said.

"Jeremy apparently went to the closet where there was a loaded .22-caliber handgun and pointed it at the boy and said, `No you're not,"' Wehrberger said. "The brother of the boy who he was pointing it at saw what was going on and tried to take it away. A struggle started between the boys and Jeremy was shot in the forehead."
