It's more than Beatlemania that led Rock Legends, an Australian company, to pay $1 million for a lifesize bronze statue of John Lennon. "This is a significant work of fine art," said the company chairman, Edward Coutts. "At this price, we felt it was an exceptional value." The statue, by Australian artist Brett-Livingstone Strong, was created after Lennon was shot to death in 1980. It was displayed at the Los Angeles City Hall in 1981 and has toured Japan and Australia.
