In the spirit of the season, the Right Reverend George E. Bates, Episcopal Bishop of Utah, has issued the following Christmas greeting:
"In a world filled with so much to hear, so much to see on television, so much to read - in a world filled with so much to do as we approach Christmas - I would like to offer a single message: the Grace of God."The birth of Jesus Christ is, from my perspective, God's ultimate gift of grace to each and every human being. This gift is meant for all people. Christians are those who have made a response in love, and who can therefore proclaim the birth of Christ with great joy.
"It seems to me that this is a good time of year to remember that grace is manifested in the simple acts of kindness and love from one human being to another. A loving response to God's ultimate gift of grace in Jesus is to become a grace-giver.
"We who have received much are to give much - and so we grow `grace upon grace' receiving and giving, thankful for all these gifts.
"I pray that each and every one of you will have a blessed Christmas and a New Year filled with hope and peace."
