A man gored by the same 1,500-pound pet buffalo that mauled his son a year ago said the animal will be destroyed.
"I don't want anything like that around anymore," said Gerald Assel, who was hospitalized in stable condition Friday, two days after being attacked."He was a pet, but he turned against us," Assel, 54, said. "You can never trust a buffalo."
Assel said he was sweeping refuse from a barn into a corral when the bull, named J.R., backed him against a door and worked a horn into his midsection.
He managed to escape when the door became ajar, Assel said. He walked to his house, and his wife, Edna, drove him to the hospital, he said.
