The Philippine military has denied responsibility for issuing Christmas cards that suggest recipients should spend the season of peace killing Communist rebels.

The cards, which have been circulating in Manila, feature the following message on the front: "On Christmas Day, don't sit around the tree." Inside the card it reads, "Kill an NPA rebel," referring to the New People's Army.Another card shows a woman receiving a Christmas package, and beneath the drawing it reads, "On Christmas Day, express your love to an NPA." Inside, a package is shown exploding, followed by this message: "A gift to last a lifetime."
