Fire ignited by firecrackers smuggled aboard by holiday travelers engulfed a domestic ferry in the central Philippines Friday, but all 128 people aboard were rescued, officials said.

One of the 48 crewmen aboard the 1,441-ton Dona Conchita was severely burned, said Francisco Malilong, lawyer for the ships owners, Gothong lines.Some of the 80 passengers suffered minor burns while helping battle the blaze that broke out at dawn when the vessel was about a mile from Olutaya island, 240 miles south of Manila, the coast guard said.
