Despite concerns over lagging faculty salary increases and periodic budget cuts, the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges has granted reaccreditation to Southern Utah State College.

The Cedar City-based college has made progress in the five years since the previous evaluation, said the association's interim evaluation report, which also noted there have been no general salary increases for faculty members in three of the past six years."Salary advancement remains a serious concern, despite the college's efforts to move ahead in this area," the organization said.
