Instructors and students from Utah Valley Community College's lineman training department are helping Spring City update its power system.

Spring City is just the latest of several cities that have benefited from UVCC linemen who are urged to get practical experience before graduating."This is an ongoing program," said Carl Crawford, lineman training program coordinator. "We do similar work in cities such as Spanish Fork, Payson, Manti andMt. Pleasant."

At Spring City, instructors and students are regrounding and tightening powerlines and installing lightning "arresters" that disperse power evenly in case oflightning strikes and prevent damage from power surges.

"The UVCC linemen are helping immensely, said Vern Fisher, Spring City administrator.
