The National Masters 10-K Championships will be part of the 1990 Salt Lake Classic Sports Festival, marking the first time the national event has been held in Utah, race officials said. It also will mark the first time in five years that the National Masters 10-K has been held in a western state.

The Classic is sponsored by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Utah and is directed by the Salt Lake City Parks and Recreation Department. The annual event, held over Memorial Day weekend, is expected to draw 5,000 participants, including 300 top runners.
