A spiritual telephone recording that won't let listeners hang up isn't spreading good will to some of those receiving the five-minute automated calls.

Art Hage, pastor of the Hurricane Bible Church, brushes aside any objections to his messages, which ask recipients to join him in prayer. But the recipients of Hage's prerecorded telephone calls can't get a dial tone until the five-minute message is done.

"If the other party refuses to let go of your line when you hang up, that's abusive," said Billy Jack Gregg, consumer advocate director at the state Public Service Commission.
