A Price man who pleaded guilty to second-degree murder last spring has been sent to the Utah State Prison for a 90-day evaluation.

Stacy Ray Peterson, 20, who pleaded guilty in the shooting death of 31-year-old Gary Webb, will be sent to the prison Dec. 16.Seventh District Judge Boyd Bunnell denied a request to allow him to remain in Emery County until after Christmas.

A co-defendant in the case, James Dee Evans, was sent to the prison for evaluation Nov. 21.

Emery County Attorney Scott Johansen and police contend that the two men took Webb to a remote area near Horse Canyon Mine in the northeastern part of Emery County on March 3, robbed him and shot him.

Webb died from multiple gunshot wounds to the head and chest, apparently inflicted at close range with a shotgun, said Sheriff LaMar Guyman.

The two will be sentenced about 30 days after the evaluations are complete.
