A gunman held up a Salt Lake restaurant Friday night, taking $1,823 in cash and personal checks, deputy sheriffs said.

A 25- to 30-year-old man entered Tres Hombres Restaurant, 3298 S. Highland Dr., about 11:10 p.m. and told the cashier he had a check to cash. When the cashier questioned him, he said, "Open the till right now" and then produced a pistol, a sheriff's report said.The man is described as male Caucasian 5 feet 10 inches with a medium build and dark collar-length hair.
