Time is running out for scores of needy families who are seeking help this Christmas. As the days go by without assistance from volunteers to the Deseret News Santa's Helping Hand program, the chances of the children experiencing the joy of Christmas morning are very slim.

And, frankly, officials are concerned.Last year the Deseret News issued a plea for help in providing Christmas for 4,236 children in 783 families. Through the generosity of hundreds of individuals, families, companies and organizations, the children were treated to toys, clothing and food.

Unfortunately, the demand for assistance this year is just as great and Dec. 25 is fast approaching, warn program officials.

Donors are urged to call the Deseret News at 237-2l39 weekdays, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. They may request any size family.
