A Utah State Prison inmate has been released from the University Hospital after being held for observation overnight following a drug overdose, officials said.

Paul Devore, 31, of Calexico, Calif., was found unconscious in his cell Monday evening after failing to report to his prison job. He was taken by ambulance to the University Hospital and released Wednesday in good condition, said Corrections spokesman Juan Benavidez.Devore is serving a prison term of five years to life for aggravated robbery and has a parole date of June 1996.

Benavidez said prison officials are investigating the matter to determine what drugs were involved and the circumstances that led to the incident.
