Comedians George Burns and Red Skelton are among the eight TV greats being inducted into the Television Hall of Fame this fall along with their late colleagues Jack Benny and Gracie Allen.
The other inductees are David Brinkley and the late Chet Huntley, one of the top television news teams of the 1950s and 1960s, and producers David Wolper and the late David Susskind, it was announced Thursday.Burns and Allen, who were husband and wife, appeared on radio and television for many years until Allen's death, and Burns continues to make movies and TV appearances. Susskind and Wolper were responsible for some of television's most memorable programs.
The Nov. 19 induction will be telecast in a two-hour special on the Fox network Nov. 28.
Burns, Brinkley, Skelton and Wolper are expected to be at the ceremonies. The others will be honored posthumously.
The Hall of Fame was established five years ago by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
