Utah's Public Service Commission has approved a 2.7 percent rate decrease for Utah Power & Light customers, effective Dec. 1.

The total $19.5 million reduction translates into an estimated $11.59 annual decrease for the average residential electric bill, the commission said. The reduction results from a stipulation between UP&L and the state's Division of Public Utilities, resolving questions about coal royalties and insurance, timing of the reduction, and adjustments of interruptible customers.
