Detectives from North Salt Lake and Salt Lake City are comparing notes to seeif a string of armed robberies of shoe stores has spread into the Davis County area.

Two robbers held up the manager of Payless Shoe-source at 488 E. 11th North in North Salt Lake shortly after opening time Monday morning.The robbery is similar to several that have taken place in other Wasatch Front communities. North Salt Lake Police Detective Sgt. Paul Anderson said he is meeting with detectives from other agencies to compare notes.

Anderson said the two men entered the store about 9:20 a.m. Monday, pulled a gun on the manager and ordered him into a back room after opening the safe. Theyscooped up the money, Anderson said, and tracks left in fresh snow outside indicate they ran to a car parked behind a nearby restaurant and then fled.

The robber who pulled the gun is described as 25 to 28 years old, 6 feet tall, weighing between 170 and 175 pounds, with sandy blond hair and hazel eyes.

The other man is described as 26 to 30 years old, about 5 feet and 10 inches tall, weighing between 160 and 165 pounds, with dark hair and dark eyes.
