Continental Lime Inc. has announced plans to build a $10.5 million plant near the company's Pilot Peak limestone deposit 12 miles west of Wendover.

Engineering on the plant has started and construction will begin this summer, with completion expected sometime next year, Continental said.

The new facility, located on one of the highest quality limestone deposits in North America, will produce 400 tons of lime per day and employ about 20 people, the company said.

Continental, which has operations in Delta, Townsend, Mont., and Tacoma, Wash., said the new plant will allow the firm to satisfy growing demand of industry in Nevada and the Mountain West region.
