A writing project undertaken by Dixie D. Bond's high school class has been cited by the National Education Association as an example of outstanding projects to improve student learning.

Bond involved students at Manti High School in a "Generations Sanpete" writing project. The project was one of 29 finalists in the NEA new A-plus Award for Excellence in Education program. More than 150 nominations were judged.The Manti writing project will be featured in NEA publications.

Bond has her students participating in an oral history program that has gathered approximately 250 histories that then are transcribed by the students. The interviews are printed in 15 volumes. The publications are sent to depository libraries throughout the West.

The students also have produced a walking map of the area.
