Brigham Young University's visual communications department has become one of the best in the nation, and the Hallmark Corporate Foundation has recognized that excellence with a $10,000 award.

The gift was presented Monday during a ceremony in BYU's Brimhall Gallery.Hallmark has taken notice of BYU because many of the school's graduates work for the company. BYU is one of five universities in the nation chosen to receive the recognition.

Hallmark representative Arch Unruh said BYU graduates have made a big impression at his company.

"(The award) is made in recognition of your outstanding program and is directly correlated with the number of excellent graduates joining us at Hallmark from BYU," he said. "Not only do your graduates show evidence of excellent training and extraordinary creativity, they also demonstrate a very high level of work ethics. All to the credit of your fine faculty."
