A 14-year-old Salt Lake girl was raped about 8 p.m. Tuesday as she walked from the Brickyard Mall to a nearby office building where she was to meet her father.

Salt Lake Police Lt. Tom Brown said the girl was accosted as she neared the building by a man who stepped from behind a parked car and threatened her with a knife. The man took her into a dark area next to the building and raped the girl before fleeing.The attacker is described as in his 20s with a dark complexion and dark hair. He was heavy-set and was wearing dark clothing at the time of the attack.
