The postmaster of Colorado Springs, Colo., Kenneth R. Prentiss, will become the new general manager and postmaster of the Postal Service's Salt Lake City Division Dec. 31.

The Salt Lake Division includes Utah, Montana, southern Idaho and parts of Oregon and Nevada. It has 742 post offices, 8,355 postal employees and in fiscal 1988 had revenues of more than $312 million.Prentiss will succeed Dennis J. Yuhl, who had been in Salt Lake City since March 1986 and who has taken a similar job in Portland, Ore.

An engineer with a bachelor's and master's degree from Purdue University, Prentiss spent 23 years working in the aerospace industry before joining the Postal Service in 1970.

He has held various management jobs in the Postal Service in the East, including general manager and postmaster of the Albany, N.Y., Division.

Until Prentiss arrives in Salt Lake, the division is being managed by Edward L. Broglio, director of marketing and communications for the Postal Service's Western Region, based in San Bruno, Calif.
