The city's Redevelopment Agency director is leaving to take a similar post with Washington Terrace.
Randy Sant, who has been Bountiful's redevelopment director for five years, said he will leave his job on Jan. 1 and take a $3,000 cut in pay to take the Washington Terrace position. Sant said he currently makes $35,000 a year."It is a good career move. I will be more like a city manager than just an RDA director. I am attracted to Washington Terrace because it is a smaller city and has a lot of potential," Sant said.
Sant leaves just as the Redevelopment Agency has completed directing work on a $1.6 million downtown rehabilitation project. Also, an unnamed group of developers has been given an exclusive contract to consider building a project in city's downtown area.
Sant said he doesn't believe his leaving will hurt any of the projects and said he will be available on a consultant basis after the first of the year to help with any loose ends. He said he hasn't yet talked with the city about what arrangements will be made and city officials haven't started searching for a replacement yet, he said.
Sant has a master's degree in public administration from Brigham Young University. Before coming to Bountiful he worked for seven years in the Ogden City Redevelopment Agency.
